Portuguese flannel-making requires such traditional expertise and delicacy in all of its stages of production that it is considered a form of art. Portuguese mills are mainly located in and around the city of GuimarĂ£es, not only historically considered to be the cradle of the country, but also the spot for an esteemed textile industry, alongside farming and wine-making traditions.

One of the distinguishing and most laboured processes that flannel-making demands is the lifting up of the fibre ends, whereby our expert weavers 'nap' the cloth using a meticulous brushing technique. In doing so, this significant process distinctly raises the fibre ends to create a long lasting material with a smooth and cosy texture.

This wisdom lies at the heart of a passionate workforce and a family business that spans four generations.
